A man was yesterday charged with harassing and threatening Economic Affairs Minister Chris Cardona.

Joseph Agius, 42, from Birkirkara was accused of threatening to kill the minister over the past three months via the phone and the internet.

He was also charged with threatening four policemen at the Naxxar station and breaking the peace on Friday.

He was remanded in custody after pleading guilty.

In another case, Liam Mallia, 18, and Darren Agius, 22, both from Marsascala, were remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to having resisted the police, ignored their orders and slightly injured two constables early yesterday.

The incident happened in St George’s Street, Paceville, at about 3am.
