A group of 111 irregular migrants have landed in Delimara.

Sources said the group was made up of 86 men, 15 women, nine children and a baby.

A number of the migrants, who arrived on their own dinghy, have been taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

Sources said that the Armed Forces of Malta are currently monitoring another group some 30 nautical miles south of Malta. The group is heading north and has not requested assistance but a couple of them may be medically evacuated to Mater Dei.

A group of 90 Somalis, including 14 women, also arrived in Lampedusa this afternoon. The immigrants, who were on a raft, were rescued by a merchant ship. They said that three women died during the five-day crossing.
