Updated - A total of 202 migrants in three boats are being brought to Malta tonight, with the first group having arrived at 9.30 p.m.

122 migrants were picked up from two boats in the afternoon when patrol boats intercepted a dinghy with a further 80 people on board. Some of the migrants jumped into the sea as a patrol boat approached.

A further 68 migrants were brought to Malta this morning, raising today's total to 270.

Earlier this afternoon the Armed Forces of Malta evacuated five migrant women from a boat.

One of the women had suffered leg fractures while the others were suffering dehydration, informed sources said. They were evacuated by an Italian Military Mission Ab212 helicopter and an AFM Alouette.

102 migrants arrived yesterday and almost 300 in the previous days.

The AFM is monitoring several other boats in Malta's search and rescue area.
