Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was this evening confirmed leader of the Labour Party with 727 of 747 delegates who cast their votes voting in favour.

The PL said in a statement this evening that 803 delegates were eligible to vote. Thirteen voted against Dr Muscat, four votes were invalid and three abstained.

Dr Muscat was the only candidate for the post.

An election was also held to elect the party's 12 members of the executive. There were 20 candidates for the 12 posts. The elected candidates are Frans Agius, Mario Azzopardi, Maria Camilleri, Guza Cassar, Aaron Farrugia, Monica Farrugia, Netto Farrugia, Mario Farrugia Borg, Neville Gafa, Stanley Mifsud, Doreen Parnis Coleiro and Nikita Zammit Alamango.
