Ħamrun Spartans and Malta Under-19 goalkeeper Jean Claude Debattista has just returned from a one-week training experience with the Swindon Town Academy in England.

Debattista was welcomed at Swindon’s training grounds by Kevin McDonald, the newly-appointed club manager. The Spartans goalkeeper trained with the Swindon youth squad under the guidance of Academy coach Steve Hale and Frazer Digby, the first-team goalkeepers coach.

Debattista, who played for 45 minutes in a friendly match between Swindon’s youth team and the RAF, also had the opportunity to practise alongside Wes Fo-deringham, the club’s first-team goalkeeper.

In a statement, the Ħamrun Spartans nursery said Jamie Pitman, the Swindon’s phase development coach, was satisfied with Debattista’s performance and promised to keep monitoring his progress.
