Brian Robertson, the CEO of HSBC Bank plc, a group managing director of HSBC Holdings plc and a member of the group management board, has been appointed executive director, subject to regulatory approval, of HSBC Malta.
As CEO of HSBC Bank plc, Mr Robertson is responsible for all the group’s operations in the United Kingdom and continental Europe. He is also chairman of HSBC Life (UK) Ltd and a director of HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd.
Mr Robertson has been with the HSBC Group for 38 years and has extensive international experience, having worked in the Middle East, Hong Kong, USA, the United Kingdom and Canada.
He succeeds Peter William Boyles on the HSBC Malta Board.
Mr Boyles steps down from his position with effect from today following his recent appointment as CEO of HSBC Group Global Private Banking.
HSBC Malta chairman Albert Mizzi thanked Mr Boyles “for his enormous contribution to the bank over the past three years”.
He welcomed Mr Robertson who, he hoped, would bring with his his extensive experience to facilitate HSBC Malta’s growth.
