Msida-based Diplo Foundation among world’s top 100 NGOs

Diplo Foundation, a Malta-based organisation, has been selected among the world’s top 100 non-governmental organisations, alongside the Wikimedia Foundation, Médecins Sans Frontières, and Amnesty International.

Diplo Foundation delivers certificate and University of Malta-accredited courses in bilateral diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, humanitarian diplomacy, health diplomacy, and other disciplines of relevance for global affairs. It also offers a Master’s and postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy, in conjunction with the University of Malta, and has a corpus alumni consisting of more than 2,500 officials and academics from 189 UN member states.

Diplo Foundation emerged from a project to introduce information and communication technology tools to the practice of diplomacy, initiated in 1992 at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies in Malta. In November 2002, the Diplo Foundation was established as an independent non-profit foundation by the governments of Malta and Switzerland. Apart from the head office in Msida, Diplo Foundation has offices in Geneva and Belgrade.

Through this ranking and Diplo Foundation’s work, Malta has secured a place on the map of top organisations operating within the non-profit world.

The ranking was carried out by Global Journal, a publication dedicated to global issues and players influencing change in today’s international world. Global Journal’s selection was based on criteria such as impact, innovation, and sustainability.

The Top 100 NGO award is an acknowledgment of Diplo Foundation’s ongoing work in fostering more effective and inclusive diplomacy. Its role has been particularly important in assisting countries to participate in global internet governance negotiations, and in introducing e-tools for diplomatic services.
