Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this evening that although some people may be angry that the PN didn't manage to deliver all their wishes, they should still make sure that the country continued to move on a safe and sound course.

Addressing a very well attend party activity at the hometown of the PN's icon Eddie Fenech Adami, Birkirkara, Dr Gonzi said that the PN was promising another five years of tranquillity where opportunities for more jobs and education would continue to flourish.

"I know that out there are people who may feel disappointed with us because we didn't manage to give them what they thought they had a right to. However think again as the future of this country depends on making the right choice on March 9," the PM warned.

Referring to the new funding package negotiated by Malta with the EU for the 2014 - 2020 budgetary period, Dr Gonzi said that despite the tough economic scenario, Malta still managed to convince the other EU leaders that it needed more money to continue to move forward.

"It was very difficult to negotiate but we ended up with a very good €1.2 billion package which will mean another quality leap forward for this country."

Dr Gonzi said that unlike the Labour Party, which, he said, is presenting an electoral wish-list and promising everything to everyone, the PN already knew where it wanted to go and how EU funds would be spent.

He said that while labour wanted to throw away people's money by squandering it on a power station the country did not  need, the PN wanted to boost investment in education, healthcare and more jobs.

Dr Gonzi appealed for another PN mandate as he said this would be the only guarantee for the country to continue to prosper.
