Sixth Form students of St Aloysius’ College, Birkirkara, are currently preparing for their annual soirée, a celebration of artistic talent to be held on four consecutive evenings next Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on February 11.

As has now become tradition the soirée is divided into two parts. The show’s first half features a rich variety of exquisite performances while in the second half, the students will perform the musical Grease, the satire of teenage life in the 1950s. Tim Vella and Sarah Papagiorcopolo play the lead roles of Danny Zucko and Sandy Olsen.

Even though 35 years have passed since it first appeared on the big screen, Grease is still a delight to watch.

It tells the story of two high school students who fall in love over the summer. They have a wonderful time together and are sad to see their romance end.

On the first day of school they are unexpectedly reunited but Sandy is shocked to find the sweet boy she met at the beach is the leader of a greaser gang called The T-birds.

The story is complimented by a series of memorable songs such as Summer Nights, Beauty School Dropout and Greased Lightning. The music will be performed by a live student orchestra.

Tickets may be bought from the Sixth Form reception. Prices range from €10 to €12. For more information, call 2279 3258.
