Labour leader Joseph Muscat is not against gay couples adopting children, as long as that is in the child’s best interest.

Replying to questions from The Times staff yesterday, Dr Muscat said the important thing was for the child to have a loving and caring family, irrespective of the adoptive parents’ sexual orientation.

Replying to other questions, he said he had identified a person to chair a law courts review, with the audit to be completed by the end of the year. 

On party financing, he expected a law to be enacted by the end of the year. Labour, he said, would be ready to apply it retroactively to itself. 

He denied that the party received donations in the region of €100,000 and said the PL had a large number of volunteers.
