Melita continued where they left off last week when they held Sliema Wanderers to a goalless draw at the Tedesco Stadium this evening.

The Amateurs, buoyed by last week’s stunning victory over champions Valletta, again put up a stirring fight that frustrated the more-quoted Wanderers who rarely threatened the Melita defence.

In fact it was Melita who created the better chances in the first half when Sliema goalkeeper Glenn Zammit did well to keep out Manuel Sierra Camacho’s curling drive.

On the restart, Sliema tried to take control of the match and almost grabbed the winner on 70 minutes when Ivan Woods was first to Alain Faccini’s free-kick but his header came off the bar while two minutes later Miguel Ciantar’s low shot was pushed away by Melita goalkeeper Guillermo Gabilondo Garcia.

Melita’s Manuel Ramon Sierra Camacho was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
