Rescue workers are treating a toddler who was buried in mud for more than 24 hours after Typhoon Bopha swept through the southern part of the Philippines.

At least 283 people are dead and as many as 300 are missing.

Survivors sought shelter anywhere they could. Many say they were worried about mudslides and falling trees. Nearly 87,000 people have been displaced.
