Go has presented the Malta Community Chest Fund with €64,492, its revenue share from phone-in donations made on fixed lines and mobile during last year’s Boxing Day charity fund-raiser l-Istrina. Go is one of l-Istrina’s long-standing partners and waives all charges associated with the phone-in platform and infrastructure that supports the event. Last year, Go also waived associated labour costs.

Go is the official communications provider for the Malta Community Chest Fund.

This year it will install the phone-in platform to receive calls over the premium number service, equipped with around 70 telephones over which volunteers can receive calls and accept donations in real time. An additional 60 lines will be used for the support and coordination of the activity.

The backbone infrastructure will consist of fibre cables that were extended from Rabat to Verdala Palace last year. The fibre cables will support all the telecom services, including hot lines, pledge lines, general lines with ‘hunting’ facility, text message donation lines and mobile connections, and data connections for high-speed ADSL for use by l-Istrina.

Go will this year waive charges and provide man hours, communications infrastructure and various quad-play services throughout the event and join forces with other local companies, besides making a cash donation to l-Istrina in line with its corporate social responsibilities.
