A man who was seen on CCTV calmly walking into a warehouse and stealing €4,000 in banknotes from an office has been identified, taken to court and jailed, PBS reported.

The man, a Romanian, pleaded guilty and was jailed for two years after also being found guilty of violating the conditions of a previous suspended jail term.

The money was not returned.

The man had entered the warehouse of Summit Importers and Distributors in Tal-Balal, limits of San Ġwann.

Wearing a white flat cap and dark blazer with a magazine or newspaper in one hand, the jaunty thief appeared not to have a care in the world in the footage taken on several cameras.

He was first seen outside, then wandering through the warehouse past building materials, and finally entering an empty office, where he opened a drawer and removed a wad of notes totalling around €4,000.

Tucking the booty into his blazer, he then walked out as easily as he arrived.
