Forensic tests have completed the identification of all four victims of the fireworks explosion in Għarb.

The DNA tests have confirmed the corpses were those of 24-year-old Bryan Portelli, of Nadur, 56-year-old Mario Gauci, of Munxar and Peppi Cini, 75, of Fontana.

The fourth victim, 55-year-old George Gatt of Fontana, had already been identified as his body had been found rather intact.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus fireworks factory was flattened by three explosions last Sunday afternoon.

The explosion follows one in September 2010 at the Farrugia Brothers Factory just 500 metres away, which killed six people and practically wiped out an entire family.

Now that the identification has been completed, the inquiring magistrate has released the bodies for burial.

The first funeral will be that of Mr Cini and Mr Gatt today at 4pm in Fontana. Mr Gauci will be laid to rest on Monday at 4pm in Munxar while Mr Portelli will be laid to rest on Tuesday at 4pm in his hometown, Nadur.
