Carola Hilmes from the University of Frankfurt will give a public talk in English on Thursday at 6pm in Room 120, Dun Mikiel Xerri Lecture Centre. Her talk, entitled Appointment on site/Ortstermin: Topographies as Models of Orientation in Literary and Cultural Theory, will focus on descriptions of places as models for aesthetic and cultural-historic analysis. She will refer to Siegfried Kracauer’s critical analysis of spaces and literary reflections on geography in works of Gertrude Stein, the Zurich Dada movement (Hugo Ball) and Heterotopia (Foucault).

Dr Hilmes is a visiting professor at the Department of German.
