BONELLO-COLE. On October 30, MARTIN, aged 59, managing partner of Grant Thornton, passed away peacefully, after an illness bravely borne, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved partner Rachael Bonello, his son Carl and his wife Verena, Carl’s mother Margaret Bonello-Cole and her partner Stephen Giordano, his grandchildren Emily and Annabel, his father Emanuel Bonello, his sisters Jennifer and Shirley and her husband Ivan Coppini, his nephew and nieces, Julian, Francesca and Annelise, the partners, directors and colleagues at Grant Thornton, and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Saint James Capua Hospital, Sliema, today at 2pm for St John of the Cross parish church, Ta’ Xbiex, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. May he rest in peace.

DE PIRO D’AMICO INGUANEZ. On November 1, PHYLLIS, Dowager Baroness of Budach, at the venerable age of 95, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Nicholas and his wife Frances, her daughters Madeleine and her husband John O’Connell, Mary and her husband Simon Bailey, Elizabeth and her husband Ralph Bianchi and Margaret, widow of Paul Bianchi, her grandchildren Cosmo and his wife Lisa, Clement, Louisa and her husband Hugh, Anton’, Thomas and his wife Luisa, James, Victoria, Sebastian and his wife Juliette, Paul-Jerôme, Giulia and her husband David, Mark and his wife Christina, Phillipa and her husband Jeffrey, Catherine and her husband Justin, Alexander and his wife Rachelle, Angela and James, her great-grandchildren Serafina, Nicholas, Mary Benedicta, Teddy and Isabella, Jack and Amelia, Genevieve and Miranda, John, Georgia and Paul and Benjamin, and all her nephews and nieces. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated tomorrow at 2pm at the Carmelite parish church, Balluta, St Julian’s. Only family flowers, but donations to the Missionary Society of St Paul, Rabat, will be appreciated.

WALLBANK. On October 30, CARMELINA, née Muscat, widow of Ralph, aged 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She leaves to mourn her loss her children David and his wife Anna, Nadya, widow of her son Bryan, Charles and his wife Joanna and Marion and her husband Ronald Vella, her grandchildren Christine, Matthew, Stephanie and her husband Kasi, Elissa, Suzanne, Joseph, Helen, Malcolm and Patrick and their partners, and her great-grandson Tommy. She also leaves to mourn her loss her brother Frank and his wife Winnie, Mary, widow of her brother Joseph, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, today at 9am for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by re-quest but a donation to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

Art exhibition

The Birkirkara Visual Art Group will be holding an art exhibition in aid of the Dominican Missions in Albania between November 10 and 18 at the Dominican convent in Rabat. It will be open from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 4.45 to 7.30pm. Artist Anton Calleja will give a lecture on his paintings at the same venue on November 16 at 7.30 pm.

Do we need religion?

The Theology Students Association will be marking its 67th foundation day on November 6. Mass will be celebrated at St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta at 6.30pm followed by a discussion at St James Cavalier at 7.30pm called We Don’t Need No Religion: Għalfejn Ħafna Nies Illum Jemmnu f’Alla Mingħajr Bżonn Ta’ Reliġjon (Why many nowadays believe in God but don’t need religion). It will be animated by Peppi Azzopardi and include speakers Ranier Fsadni, Fr Mark Sultana and Jason Copperstone. Those interested can reserve a seat at events ghst@gmail.com.
