The circus in Naxxar due to open in November has been moved from a field alongside St Paul Street to the parking area next to the former trade fair grounds.

The local council an-nounced the move yesterday after residents started collecting signatures for a petition complaining about the tent’s location.

The council said it had discussed the issue in a public meeting in August and the residents’ concerns had been taken into consideration.

Councillors had unanimously agreed that the circus should be set up in the field as they were convinced the organisers would remove any inconvenience for residents.

The field is now going to be used as a car park, the council said, adding it would take action against the organisers should the place not be cleaned every day.
