A last-gasp Petra Ellul free-shot gave Luxol their second honour of the campaign after they beat Hibs 57-56 in a thrilling women’s Super Cup at Tal-Qroqq, yesterday.

Hibs had taken the lead for the first time in the match late in the fourth session as Luxol battled bravely without their US guard Molly Williams who had to retire early in the game.

Chris Stolp’s Luxol, who topped the pre-season tournament the weekend before, started on a high and opened a 20-5 lead only for Williams to cry out with injury.

Hibs profited to narrow the deficit until half-time (29-24).

No team managed to impose itself after the interval but Hibs looked heading to victory when Joselle Cardona found herself un-impeded inside the opponents’ zone with only a few seconds left.

She fumbled her chance, however, and from the break, Ellul won free-throws to secure a dra-matic victory for her team.
