Jeffrey Pisani was in top form last weekend at the Bidnija ranges where the All Malta trap shoot was organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation.

Pisani managed a perfect 25/25 in his first round followed by a double 24 on Day One of competition on Saturday.

Yesterday morning he started with another full 25 followed by a 24 for a superb score of 122/125. That bold effort was just one clay short of the national record for trap shooting at Bidnija.

No impressive scores were registered in the barrage though as all six finalists seemed to have lowered their guard after five hectic rounds.

However, Pisani’s 22 single-barrel targets still saw him securing the best tally in the final as he pushed his accumulated score to 144/150, way ahead of Brian Galea who took the runner-up spot on 135/150.

Overall, there were five straights on the scoreboard over the two days of competition.

Besides Pisani’s double, the other three came from Galea, Alessandro Nicotra and Matthew Busuttil.

Remarkably, all six shooters in the barrage finals produced an ISSF minimum qualifying score.

Result: 1. J. Pisani (122+22) 144; 2. B. Galea (118+17) 135; 3. S. Vella (116+17) 133+3; 4. Alessandro Nicotra (114+19) 133; 5. F. Pace (112+18) 130; 6. F. Scorfna (113+16) 129.
