Obituary

BARBARA. On June 4, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, JOHN, of Marsa, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Donia and her husband Joseph Borg, Marcelle and her husband Joseph Scerri, Valerie and her husband John Galea,and Paul widower of his daughter Marisa, his grandchildren Joseph and his wife Melanie, Francesca, Marco, Rebecca and Andrea, Therese and Robert, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence today at 2 p.m. for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank all the staff at Fatima Ward, St Vincent de Paul Residence. CUSCHIERI. On June 4, at Mater Dei Hospital, LINO, of Sliema and residing in St Julians, aged 76, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Josephine, relatives and friends. The funeral will be held tomorrow at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Capuchin Missions, Floriana, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

KEATE – SUSAN ANGELA, née Vian, of Żebbuġ, suddenly on May 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 80. A friend of Harry since 1941 and a devoted wife since 1954. Much beloved by her children and grandchildren. Funeral in Scotland.

On June 2, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, MARGARET (Maggie), née Audibert, of Valletta, widow of Edward (ex-Superintendent of Admiralty Police), aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Marlene and her husband Bernard Licari, Joseph and his wife Antoinette, her daughter-in-law Jane, widow of Albert, her brother Vince and his wife Nina of Niagara Falls, Canada, her in-laws, especially Joseph, her nephews and nieces, her 11 grandchildren, their spouses and fiancés, her 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital today at 7.15 a.m. for St Paul Shipwrecked Collegiate church, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VALENTINO. On June 3, VINCENT, aged 85, passed away peacefully at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Very deeply missed by his dearest wife Edith, his children Anton and his wife Theresa, George and his wife Pauline, Martin and his wife Angela, Anna and her husband Doke Strijbosch, and Peter, his grandchildren Tamsin and her husband Olly Jackson, Daniela and her fiancé John, Peter, Sandro and his girlfriend Zoe, Stephan and his fiancée Sara, Mark, Gianluca, Matthew, his great-grandson Jack, his sisters Lucy, wife of Edwin Borg Costanzi and Marie, wife of Maurice Said, nephews, nieces and many friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at St Julians parish church, followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Bazaar

A bazaar is being held at 49, Cathedral Street, Sliema, next door to Stella Maris parish centre, from tomorrow to Friday, June 8. Open from 9.30 a.m. onwards.

Stolen

Last Saturday afternoon I had my laptop stolen from near the university gym parking area, Dell xp17 + external hard disk. €300 reward for return of all contents. This laptop contains M.Sc. and B.Sc. research. I would appreciate even if only the hard disk is returned. Phone 7929 0210.

Mission Fund donations

The Mission Fund last year donated €377,853 to Maltese and Gozitan missionaries.

Its committee for 2012 to 2014 is as follows: president, Sylvia Ebejer; secretary, Charles Decelis; treasurer, Philip Micallef; PRO, John Sammut; vice president and assistant treasurer, Speranza Xuereb; assistant secretary, Christine Camilleri (co-opted), and members Joe Mifsud and Frans Scicluna. Fr Marcellino Micallef is the spiritual director.

The committee thanked all members, volunteers and benefactors for their commitment and contributions.
