I am a 15-year-old student who used to attend St Edward’s College, and I’m currently sitting for my ordinary level examinations. All’s well at the moment. However I would like to raise an issue about the Maltese Paper 2 examination. In my opinion, we clearly do not have enough time to write two literature essays and two scripture references. It’s quite a mind-racking exam, having to memorise numerous quotes as well as learning by rote countless scripts and poems. I would like to ask Matsec to either reduce the number of exercises or at least allocate more time slots. I speak on behalf of all students doing their examinations this year and the ones who are going to sit for them in the future.

I believe Matsec have already had another encounter in which their demanding rules were bent. The fact that we weren’t allowed to drink was quite disturbing and poignant. Do Matsec truly want candidates to excel and get their kudos or not?

I wish all students an auspicious future.
