This Is The Night tops iTunes

Since its release on iTunes just a few weeks ago, Kurt Calleja’s song for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest This Is The Night has shot to the top of the Malta iTunes chart.

This feat, coupled with the significant turnout by the public for the ‘Biggest Eurovision Dance’ event a couple of weeks ago, is certainly a boost for the young singer as the date of the Eurovision Song Contest edges ever closer.

Written by Calleja and composed by Swedish songwriters Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås, This Is The Night was produced by Gunnerås and mixed by artist and audio engineer Dann Pursey for Bonaire Media.

Pursey himself is no stranger to chart success, and recently made it to the No 1 spot in the US Billboard album chart for his work with One Direction.

Since winning the Malta Eurovision contest, Kurt has travelled to Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Georgia, and more recently Turkey.

Last night he performed at the Eurovision in Concert festival in Holland and is now expected to travel to Italy.

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 22, 24 and 26.

Malta will be the fourth performer during the second semi-final on May 24 with the hope to make it to the final on the following Saturday.
