The tiny village of Mġarr will overflow with juicy red strawberries tomorrow in the sixth edition of Festa Frawli.

Organised by the Lejla Mġarrija commission, the strawberry festival will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and is a celebration of the sweet, red fruit characteristically linked to the fertile lands around the village.

More than eight tonnes of fresh strawberries were sold last year and another 800 kilos were used in food and drinks. People will not only be able to buy fresh strawberries but many other food items made out of strawberries such as ice-creams, ravioli, sorbet, gateaux, waffles and pancakes.

An enormous cake baked by Maypole and Ta’ Soldi will be on display and there will be a cupcake competition.

The yard of the local primary school will be buzzing with activity including an art competition for children, sport activities, scouting, sumo wrestling, storytelling, drama, zumba and tombola.

A park-and-ride service will be offered from the Ta’ Qali Millennium Stand parking area, along Għajn Tuffieħa road and from St Anne’s church, Żebbiegħ.

People coming from Gozo and the north of Malta can catch bus numbers 101 and 102. Bus numbers 23, 44 and 244 will cover the rest of the island.
