The female members of the Air-Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club are giving the boys a really hard time in competitions at the Malta Sport Shooting Federation indoor range in Bidnija.

Last week, it was no exception as those present witnessed some exciting fare by the girls who claimed the top two places on the podium in an airgun competition.

Marianna Kisvardai was un-stoppable as she chalked up her first win of the season with an excellent score of 575/600 points in the mixed event.

Newcomer Alison Vella also produced her best to finish second with 554 as Romeo Zuber, who achieved a personal best of 536, had to settle for third place.

In the men air-pistol shoot, first place went to Ray Cacciattolo, scoring 537 points. He was closely followed Stephen Vassallo (531), Martin Grech (493) and Mario Mallia Milanes (471).

In the women’s air-pistol shoot, Eleanor Bezzina added another honour to her long list of accolades after producing a score of 358/400 points. Josette Calleja Galea hit her best score ever, 333, to claim the runners-up spot.

All competitions were judged by international referee Gino Galea.

He was assisted by John Galea and Lawrence Darmanin.
