The Tal-Wejter tower located in Triq Filippo Borgia in Birkirkara is a late 17th/early 18th century square structure on two levels surrounded by a high parapet wall and moulded string course separating the two floors.

This fortified tower was commissioned by Grand Master Ramon Perellos (together with the tower of Għar il-Ġobon in the vicinity).

The tower originally had box machiolations on each façade. Its entrance is through a mediaeval-type arched doorway.

The tower originally lay on the approach from San Ġwann and St Julians towards Birkirkara directly overlooking the valley. However it has since been completely surrounded by development.

The tower was partially demolished illegally in 1968, however it was saved through timely intervention. It was later restored following the original plan.

Mepa scheduled the Tal-Wejter Tower as a Grade 2 national monument as per Government Notice 22 dated January 10.
