The 12th National Karate Kata and Kumite Championship, organised by the Malta Karate Federation (MKF), was held recently at the St Aloysius Sports Complex.

The event attracted the participation of 125 martial artists from the six clubs affiliated within the MKF, namely those in Birkirkara, Fgura, Mġarr, Mtarfa, Pembroke and Paola.

In a statement, MKF president Kenneth Abela expressed his satisfaction at the successful organisation of the championship and the level of karate on display in the various categories.

The refereeing commission was under the charge of Sensei Anthony Zammit, an international referee.

The MKF is affiliated with the Maltese Olympic Committee, Kunsill Malti għall-iSport and the World Karate Federation.
