The Curia said today that there are 1,792 vacancies for entry into Church Schools in the scholastic year 2012-2013. Applications will be received next month and in February.

In a statement, the Curia said the regulations have been published on its website www.maltadiocese.org/church-schools

Boys whose names were submitted last year for admission to the first year of kindergarten as Other Applicants need not re-apply. The ballot could not be held in this sector last year and therefore last year's applications remain valid for admission to the second year of kindergarten. Parents should check that the names of their sons are featured on the list carried on the website.

As part of a three-year process, there will be vacancies for boys in the fourth year of primary school  at De La Salle College, St Paul's Missionary College and the Minor Seminary.

St Augustine College has postponed admissions to its primary school as it awaits Mepa permits for new building.

The vacant places for next year are the following:

First year kinder - 97 boys and 129 girls.

Second year kinder: 105 boys and 276 girls.

First year primary: 355 boys and 231 girls.

Fourth year primary: 145 boys.

First year secondary: 422 boys and 32 girls.

Total: 1,124 boys and 668 girls.

Applications for children from Church homes, siblings, the children of Church school teachers, transfers and schools without continuity will be received on January 9, 10, 16 and 17 at St Elias College, Sta Venera, and the Minor Seminary in Rabat. In grave humanitarian cases involving those categories parents may phone for appointments on January 9, 10 and 11 on 27790077.

In grave humanitarian cases in other categories, parents should phone on  the same number on January 30 or 31 or February 1.

Other applicants for the first year of kindergarten can apply on February 16, 17, 23 and 24 at St Angela School, Msida and Zabbar, St Augustine College Pieta, St Francis Msida and Theresa Nuzzo School, Hamrun.

Applicant for Kinder Two can apply on January 23, 24, 30 or 31 at St Angela Msida and Zabbar, St Augustine, Piea, St Joseph School Blata l-Bajda, Stella Maris Balzan, St Aloysius Birkirkara and Theresa Nuzzo, Hamrun.

Applications for Year One of primary school will be received on January 26, 27 or February 2 and 3 at De La Salle, Vittoriosa, St Paul's Missionary Collee, Rabat, t Albert College Velletta, St Eias in Sta Venera, St Michael College, St Venera , Stella Maris Balzan or St Aloysius.

Applications for Year Four of primary school will be received on February 6,7 13 and 14 at St Paul's Missionary College, Rabat, St Albert, Valletta and St Michael Sta Venera.

Applications for secondary school will be open on February 8, 9, 16 and 17 at St Paul's Missionary College, St Albert, St Aloysius and St Michael in Sta Venera.

The Curia warned that children who are admitted  in breach of regulations will  be liable for expulsion. Procedures to be followed when the rules are broken are currently being drawn up.
