Nazzareno Attard won the Malta-Italy Trap Challenge event for singles yesterday at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation ranges in Bidnija.

Attard claimed the title after a very tight barrage mainly contested with back-to-form Frans Pace after both had tied on 116 following the five 25-clay rounds of the two-day competition.

Attard prevailed after hitting 20 clays in the final to Pace’s 19.

Third place also went to a local shooter as Jeffrey Pisani beat Italian Giovanni Cembolo for the remaining place on the podium by just one clay – 129-128.

Attard, Pace and Pisani also combined perfectly to secure the teams’ title at the expense of Italian trio Cembolo, Alessandro di San Giacomo and Carlo Petrucci. The locals won the tie 65-64.

Result: 1. N. Attard (116+20) 136; 2. F. Pace (116+19) 135; 3. J. Pisani (110+19) 129; 4. G. Cem-bolo (109+19) 128; 5. A. Di San Giacomo (107+19) 126; 6. J. Galea (109+17) 126.
