Nine Italian players holding 40 winning tickets worth over €840,000 filed a judicial protest against a Maltese-based gaming company claiming it refused to honour the tickets.

The players claimed they bought the winning tickets from a shop in Rome that was authorised to offer the gaming services of StanleyBet Malta, a gaming outlet in Birkirkara.

The protest was filed by Bruna Bruschi, Antonietta Castrogiovanni, Natale Russo, Paolo Sganga, Vincenzo Poziello, Emiliano Santini, Andrea Federici, Davide Della Porta and Pietro Angeloni against StanleyBet Malta.

They explained that they attempted several times to redeem the winning amount and were also informed by an Italian lawyer that the European Sport Security Association had opened a formal investigation. However, they had information that any inquiry by the association had been exhausted.

They called on the company to pay the amount due within five days warning that failure to do so would lead to further legal action.

The protest was signed by lawyers Ann Bugeja and Andrew Zammit.
