The Malta Karate Federation (MKF) has just held its annual summer training camp at Mount Saint Joseph Retreat House in Mosta.

Italy national coach Maestro Santo Torre, seventh Dan Black Belt, who is also the technical consultant of the MKF, conducted the seminar.

Giuseppe Bartolo, fifth Dan Black Belt, was responsible for the kumite (sparring) instruction.

Aspects of karate covered were kihon (basic techniques), kata and bunkai (forms and their application) as well as kumite.

This annual event involved 15 hours of training and featured the participation of 90 martial artists, composed of MKF members as well as seven Sicilian and three Italian elite national athletes.

William Torre, a gold medallist at this year’s European Championships and son of Maestro Torre, was among the participants.

MKF technical instructors also attended and contributed to this seminar.
