Success for Chetcuti in Italian competition

William Chetcuti maintained his positive form yesterday when capturing the double trap title at Il Gran Premio Nazionale Italiano, held in Umbriaverde.

Chetcuti, who last month won a World Cup shoot in Beijing, hit 143 points in the qualifying rounds to book his place in the barrage where he managed a fantastic 48/50 for a winning total of 191 points. On Friday, Chetcuti finished in third place in the Italian international grand prix.

Up-and-coming shooter Nathan Lee Xuereb also achieved an excellent result yesterday. Xuereb chalked up 139 points to qualify for the barrage where he scored 39 to finish fifth overall with 178 hits.

Russia’s Vasely Mosin was second on 190 points (145+45), two ahead of third-placed Richard Bognor, of Hungary, who had a total of 188 points (140+48).
