Three participants are taking part in the new Pink-alli programme designed to offer an effective all-round solution to overweight or obese persons. The participants are receiving a free alli treatment, while four professionals have been roped in to offer individual one-on-one advice on how to overcome weight issues.

Alan Curry, Personal Trainer at Chic Physique in Pembroke, devised a training programme which includes two supervised exercise sessions per week to be supplemented by a walk and exercise routine. Maria Ellul, Public Health Nutritionist, is helping participants review their current dietary habits and devise a personalised weight loss strategy according to age, weight loss history, lifestyle and general health.

Dr Paul Daniel Micallef, Clinical Psychologist, is guiding participants through their emotions, which are often the cause preventing some people from losing weight. Edward Bonavia, Medical Representative of GSK, manufacturers of alli, briefed candidates on the key benefits of the product and is guiding them to stick to a realistic weight loss goal.

Antoine Grima (48, self-employed entrepreneur) has lost 2kg since starting the alli programme last month. He said: “I am more confident that I shall achieve my goal of shedding off the excess weight for good. The target weight loss is encouraging me to continue working towards achieving my goal.”

Duncan Sant, (32, bank manager) said the alli programme made him change his lifestyle and become more disciplined. “I have introduced a daily exercise routine and I feel I have more control over what I eat and how much I eat.” Duncan has so far lost 5kg.

Agnes Falzon, (51, housewife and catering student) lost 2kg and noticed a change in her attitude towards exercise. “Through the alli programme, I feel more motivated and encouraged. I started going to the gym regularly and I even look forward to it!”

alli (www.alli.com.mt) is the weight loss aid to help adults lose 50% more weight than by dieting alone. For adults with a Body Mass Index of 28 kg/m² or more, alli works by blocking about 25% of fat in the food eaten from being absorbed into the body, so for every 2 kilos you lose through your own efforts, alli can help you lose 1kg more. It is the first and only EU-licensed, clinically proven weight loss aid available without prescription.

Upon successful completion of the programme the candidates will receive a three-month membership at Chic Physique Gym in Pembroke and a head-to-toe makeover by Debenhams for the candidates’ healthier, slimmer look.

alli is a medicinal and contains orlistat. Always read the product leaflet and consult your doctor, or pharmacist for advice.
