A fleet of 172 new buses arrived in Malta this morning, just over two months before Arriva takes over the bus service.

The King Long buses were built and shipped from China.

Arriva is currently training bus drivers and the officials who will administer the new service. Work has intensified on the building of a new bus terminus outside Valletta.

The new buses were unloaded at Laboratory Wharf. They include 48 nine-metre buses for the feeder services and 124 12-metre buses for the main line services.

There will also be a number of articulated buses for particular routes.

The new bus service will be inaugurated on July 3.

66% of the buses will be King Long buses.

All buses are diesel low-floor vehicles providing easy access, with Euro V engines, air-conditioning, comfortable seating, and Real Time Passenger Information displays, including next scheduled stop announcements.
