Despite losing 10-8 to Brixia Leonessa late Saturday, RN Bogliasco still managed to go through to the semi-finals of the Italian Serie A1 play-offs with a 17-16 aggregate victory.

This was a landmark achievement in Bogliasco’s history and was celebrated in style at the end by their supporters.

Bogliasco had won the first leg 9-6 and the second match on Saturday ended 7-10, meaning that the game went into extra-time. Bogliasco scored the only goal during the additional period to seal their qualification to the last four. The session scores were 3-1, 3-3, 1-1, 3-2 (extra-time 0-0, 0-1).

Brixia scored five from 13 man-ups plus four penalties while Bogliasco netter four times from 12 and and one penalty, the last goal of the match that was decisive.

Steve Camilleri, who scored two of Bogliasco’s goals in the second quarter, was expelled at the start of the fourth session for violent conduct and will probably miss the first leg of the semi-final.

Bogliasco had another three players who did not finish the match after being fouled out.

Marco Elez scored five for Brixia, four of which were penalties.

For Bogliasco, Heiko Nossek scored three, one of which was from a penalty throw.
