An Air India Airbus A330 landed safely at Malta International Airport tonight after reporting undercarriage problems.

Informed sources said the aircraft could not properly retract the undercarriage when it took off from Tripoli heading for India.

It was diverted to Malta where it landed safely at 10.35 p.m.

The emergency services were on standby.
