Porn the Musical was recently nominated for Best New Musical and Best Production at the Off West End Theatre Awards.

Originally produced at Valletta’s MITP Theatre, Porn the Musical was written by Malcolm Galea (book and lyrics) along with Kris Spiteri and Boris Cezek (music and lyrics).

The story dealt with the adventure of Stefan Bugeja, a young Maltese man who discovers that his girlfriend has been unfaithful to him.

Upset, he goes off toAmerica where he unwittingly ends up working at a studio that makes adult films.

The winner of the Best Production category will be decided by public vote and people can vote for Porn the Musical by visiting offwestend.com, registering, and voting. Currently the show is in eighth place. Voting ends tomorrow at midnight.

Porn the Musical has also been shortlisted for the Best New Musical award along with the Bollywood-themed Britain’s Got Bhangra and Silence! The Musical, a comedy spoof of The Silence of the Lambs.

The Best New Musical Category will be judged by a panel of experts.

After being performed in Malta last year, the musical moved on to the London Fringe, where it ran for a month at Theatre503 last April.

All throughout its forays in the UK, Porn the Musical received overwhelmingly positive re-views and was even hand-picked to be Time Out London’s Critics’ Choice along with such productions as Jerusalem and Hair.
