The Bidnija indoor shooting range hosted competitions in 10m air-rifle and air-pistol last weekend.

Most of the participants at the shoot are preparing for the upcoming Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) and their improving form was reflected in the high scores achieved.

In the end, the day in Bidnija belonged to female shooters Marianna Kisvardai and Eleanor Bezzina who finished with the best points’ tally in air-rifle and air-pistol respectively after a sound display of shooting.

Kisvardai hit a remarkable 383/400 and a 571/600 to grab the honours ahead of Daniel Grech, 521/600. Wayne Galea was third with a score of 502, ahead of newcomer Luke Rosso who chalked up 404 points in his first showing at the indoor range.

Bezzina continued to make headway in air-pistol with an unrivalled score of 370/400 and a 555/600. Ray Cacciattolo also improved on his recent scores to place second on 549/600.

Josette Calleja rounded up a fine day for her female peers after claiming third place thanks to a sound performance that won her 337/400 points and a 503/600.

She beat stiff competition from Emanuel Grech, 494/600, and Martin Grech, 487/600.

This weekend, the country’s no.1 target shooter, William Vella, will take part in the Hungarian International Open in Budapest.
