A new e-training tool based on skills related to leadership and creativity is available at www.fepic.eu.

This is the result of over two years collaboration among 20 European organisations including the University of Malta.

The Female Engineers Pushing Innovation in Companies (Fepic) project was partly funded by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme (Education and Culture DG).

A group of 63 female engineering and ICT students from seven countries including Malta were actively involved in this project.

They interviewed a number of successful female engineers in their respective countries to learn about different leadership role models and the difficulties encountered by leaders in their daily lives.

Malta was represented by The Edward de Bono Institute at the University of Malta and the Chamber of Engineers.

The web-based training tool for creativity and leadership skills is the result of meetings, research, focus groups, interviews and forums.

The end result involves a journey from one ‘island’ to another, as each topic the training tool deals with is considered a mythical ‘island’ for the viewer to explore.

The 13 islands include Leadership, Creativity, Communication and Networking .

The graphics are simple and effective and a brief quiz and bibliography are available on each island. Those who register and complete the training tool are eligible for a virtual certificate.
