Norman Darmanin Demajo was today elected president of the Malta Football Association.

The St Andrew's official defeated incumbent Joe Mifsud 77-31 in a secret ballot held during the association's annual general meeting.

Darmanin Demajo's fans erupted into a loud applause as soon as it became clear that the former MFA treasurer had gained the majority of votes.

Darmanin Demajo was greeted by his supporters and other neutral fans outside the Centenary Hall.

Meanwhile, Carmelo Bartolo, Alex Manfre and Ludovigo Micallef will fill three posts of MFA vice-presidents for next three years.

Peter Fenech failed to be re-elected.

Antoine Portelli is the MFA's new honororary treasurer. No election was needed after the other two candidates for this post, Manfre, the outgoing treasurer, and Paul Bugeja withdrew their candidatures.
