The men's national team had an auspicious start to the European Division C qualifiers yesterday after thumping San Marino 83-51 at the University Sports Complex, Tal-Qroqq.

The road to victory was paved in the opening two sessions when Bruno Di Pietrantonio's team opened a 31-16 lead at half-time.

Malta's Joshua Jackson led the scoring charts with 25 points.

Today, Malta play their second match against Group B favourites Denmark (6 p.m.). The Danes yesterday beat Scotland 88-68.
