Foreign Affairs Minister Tonio Borg signed two agreements with Serbia during a two-day visit to that country.

One is a protocol on the readmission of people residing without authorisation.

This allows the readmission of Maltese and Serbian citizens, honouring an agreement signed between the EU and Serbia in 2007.

The other is an investment guarantee agreement, which will promote investment flows and provide a legal framework to set out investment norms and protection for investors in both Malta and Serbia.

A double taxation agreement signed by the two countries last year entered into force on June 16.

During his visit, Dr Borg held talks Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, Ivica Dacic and with Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic.
