Wheelchair Rugby League was recently introduced locally and the Knights took full advantage to claim the inaugural tournament, played at St Martin's College, Swatar.

The tournament, organised jointly by the Malta Rugby League (MRL) and Inspire, saw the participation of men's and women's teams. Able and non-able bodied players took part and a set of international rules for this innovative sport, founded in France in 2004, were adopted.

The Knights progressed to the final after finishing their group matches undefeated. They met Kavallieri Men in the decider with Inspire beating Kavallieri Ladies for third place.

On a tricky surface, rendered slippery by the early showers, a brace of tries by Graham Attard gave Kavallieri the lead but Daniel Grima and Anthony Micallef drew the teams level before sending the game into extra-time.

In golden point extra-time, Kristin Baldacchino sent Grima through to score in the corner for the Knights and claim the Wheelchair Rugby League Challenge.
