The government and the Public Transport Association reached agreement on compensation to bus owners and drivers this evening at the end of talks lasting six hours. Details are to be given in the morning.
Informed sources said that after a meeting of bus owners late on Monday, the ATP presented proposals to the Ministry of the Infrastructure and Transport at around noon today (Tuesday).
A high-level meeting started at about 5.30 p.m. and ended at 11 p.m.
The government had been offering a package worth over €50m to operators who may be negatively affected as a new company takes over the bus service. The package included a 10-year job guarantee to drivers who opted to join the new bus service operator and compensation for the buses and licences.
