More than 50,000 people have visited the new BOV Adventure Park at Ta’ Qali, which has been open for just over a week.

The €1.3 million park boasts a multitude of colourful attractions, including rubbish bins shaped like cartoon animals.

The park has five interactive fountains that shoot water at whoever steps on them, a climbing course and a rope course. It is compliant with EU regulations and safety has been given priority.

It will soon have a six-storey abseiling facility and another climbing course similar to the one already in place.

The park, built by the Rural Affairs Ministry in collaboration with the US government and Bank of Valletta, is an investment in Maltese families and in the country’s embellishment, the ministry said.

The government wanted to continue returning to the public open spaces for recreational purposes. Such spaces included St George’s Square in Valletta, St Anne Square in Sliema and the extension of the park at Kennedy Grove.

The ministry said that next year it was to continue working on a number of projects including a family park in Marsascala on a former rubbish dump, a park in Delimara and other maintenance and accessibility projects.
