The Labour Party has expressed its condolences following the death of former minister Daniel Piscopo.

Dr Piscopo served in Dom Mintoff's Cabinet as Minister of Health between 1971-74, Minister of Posts, Energy and Communications between 1974-76 and Minister of Tourism between 1976-78.

He was born in Cospicua on February 11, 1920 and entered the political fray in 1947.

The PL paid tribute to Dr Piscopo, remembering in particular his efforts to improve psychiatric care and his modernisation of hospital services.

The Nationalist Party also expressed its condolences.

Dr Piscopo is survived by his wife Mary and his children Peter, Ivan and Vincent.
