Clive Farrugia clinched the individual skeet title at the Malta International Grand Prix, held at the Bidnija ranges last weekend.

The young Maltese shooter led the field going into the final barrage after hitting 114 clays in the qualifying rounds, three better than Welshman Richard Price. Jason Sciberras was third on 109.

In the barrage, Farrugia kept his composure to smash 21 from 25 clays and secure first place with a total of 135 points - an ISSF MQS.

Sciberras pipped Price to second place, the Maltese shooter prevailing in a shoot-off after both finished with 133 points.

In the team event, Malta claimed top spot as Farrugia, Sciberras and Darren Vella totalled 326 to finish ahead of Wales and Malta B, both on 308 points.

In the trap competition, Welsh shooter Mike Wixey won the title with 133 (115+18) clays ahead of Nick Lyons (109+17) 126 and John Davies (108+17) 125.

Malta duo Stephen Vella and Jason J. Aquilina shared fifth spot on 123 clays.

Wales won the trap team competition with a tally of 332 points. Malta were runners-up on 319 and Wales B finished third on 315.
