The Malta Air Rifle and Pistol Shooting club organised another competition last weekend.

Ray Cacciattolo, winner of a bronze medal at last year's European Commonwealth Championships in Gibraltar, secured top spot in the air pistol event with a record score for the season of 557/600.

Cacciattolo's performance augurs well for his participation in the forthcoming Malta Autumn Grand Prix which, for the first time, will pit local shooters with competitors from Wales.

In last weekend's air rifle event, newcomer Gabriel Mallia shot an excellent first-time score of 527 to finish third, ahead of Annabel Borg on 513.

William Vella topped the classification with 568 and Lawrence Darmanin claiming the runner-up spot on 549.

The Malta Autumn GP will be held at the Bidnija Ranges between November 27 and 29.
