The Malta Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club, which forms part of the Association of Maltese Arms Collectors and Shooters (AMACS), broke new ground when they held their fourth bullseye pistol match of 2009 at the AFM Qortin range in Gozo earlier this month.

As always, this match followed the rules laid down by the National Rifle Association of the USA, rules that are observed by sports shooters worldwide.

Courses of fire were attempted at 15 and 25 metres in both rimfire (.22 lr caliber) and centrefire (9x19 mm and .38sp calibers) disciplines, using pistols and revolvers.

In the rimfire category, Anthony Mifsud placed first with 255 points followed by Sintio Schembri (242) and Clive Chipperfield (203).

Clive Brockdorff led in the centrefire section with 232 points closely followed by Mifsud (227) in second place and Schembri (202) in third.

The Malta Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club (MRPSC) currently has over 550 members and is hard at work among its members in order to further raise the standards.

Further information about this and future events may be obtained from the AMACS website www.amacs-malta.org or by writing to info@amacs-malta.org.
