The meteor shower, known to many as the Tears of St Lawrence, or Dmugħ ta' San Lawrenz, peaks between tomorrow and Thursday night when the earth passes through a stream of dusty debris from comet Swift-Tuttle.

When Earth is passing through the densest part of the stream dozens of meteors per hour can be seen during this annual bonanza. Watchers should avoid other sources of light to get the best views.

The Astronomical Society of Malta will be holding an observation session at Irdum tal-Madonna, L-Aħrax, limits of Mellieha, starting at 9 p.m. tomorrow. The public is invited to attend.
